What is a Cocktail Ring?
Cocktail ring is meant to be a dramatic large ring, worn at cocktail parties. Cocktail ring was especially popular to wear during US prohibition of illegal cocktail parties. Such a ring flaunted not only the fact that one was drinking illegally, but also was doing it with style.
Popularity of the cocktail ring gained in the 1940s and 1950s, as cocktail parties continued to be a popular event. Although cocktail parties are less common now, wearing a cocktail ring with huge diamonds or other large precious or semi-precious gems is still popular for formal dressy occasions, and especially for events like premieres of films, Red Carpet, award shows such as Oscars or Grammy.

January Birthstone : Garnet
Birthstone Color: Deep Red
One glance at the deep red seeds nestled inside of a pomegranate fruit explains why the word “garnet” comes from the Latin word “granatus,” meaning “grain” or “seed.” This name was given to the garnet because of its close resemblance to the succulent pomegranate seed. But don’t bite into a garnet, because at Moh’s hardness 6.5 to 7.5, it will definitely damage the teeth!

Do’s and Don’ts
1) Go simple when going big and bold. If you’re going to wear large bangle or necklaces, don’t wear dainty jewellery too. Also, try to stick to solid color, simple clothes rather than frills or prints. Big, bold and beautiful jewellery should be the main limelight of your outfit.
2) Wearing bold jewellery takes confidence. If you’re wearing a large cocktail ring, don’t wear other rings else except maybe your wedding ring. Cocktail rings are hot and in trend now, you can leave your diamonds at home as cocktail rings come with great varieties, designs and colours. 4) Jewellery is just like choosing and wearing clothes, most important is that you feel comfortable with what you wear and carry. But do not stop trying out what really suits you. You should always experiment it with colours, style and of course age and event should be well considered during your selection. Don’t be afraid to mix styles, or colours. Jewellery sets (which includes matching necklace, earrings, bracelet and a ring) are always thought as a complete look for any event. However, do not wear them all at once unless you want to feel like a bride of the day. You should always balance your jewellery piece. A necklace goes perfectly with a ring, and earrings are fabulous match with a bracelet, you may compliment them with your wedding ring.
5) So how to accessories that little black dress? You don’t want to wear too much jewellery. However if you decide to forego the necklace, instead wear a bracelet adorned with diamonds, stones or crystals and go with another stunning earring and you are all set for the event!
